How it works
Useful privacy, without privacy theater.
This page preconfigures the converter for WebP to JPEG. Your browser decodes the WebP, the encoder re-encodes it as JPEG, and the result is decoded again before you download it.
- InspectRead supported metadata locally.
- Process and verifyEncode locally, decode the result again, and report measured numbers.
What it does
- WebP input, including lossless and extended files, decoded by your browser
- JPEG output with a quality slider, defaulting to 85
- Animated WebP converts its first frame only, and the tool says so before starting
- JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are flattened over a color you pick
- Freshly encoded output carries no EXIF, GPS or XMP
Questions, answered
What this tool does and does not do.
Why convert WebP to JPEG at all?
Compatibility. Some editors, desktop apps, forms and older websites still reject or mishandle WebP. JPEG opens everywhere, at the cost of a slightly larger file at equal quality.
Will the JPEG be bigger than my WebP?
Usually yes, and the tool tells you the real number instead of promising savings. WebP compresses more efficiently, so converting to JPEG typically trades some file size for compatibility.
What happens to transparency in my WebP?
JPEG cannot store it. Transparent areas are filled with a background color you choose — white, black or custom — so nothing turns black unexpectedly.
Does the output keep my metadata?
No. Re-encoding builds the JPEG from pixels only, so EXIF, GPS and XMP cannot survive. The original file on your disk is untouched.
