How it works

Useful privacy, without privacy theater.

The engine parses claims and reports validation status. MetaPurify does not configure an external signer trust list, so it does not present a trusted-identity or authenticity verdict.

  1. InspectRead supported metadata locally.
  2. Report clearlyShow what was actually found—nothing inferred.

What it checks

  • C2PA manifests in supported JPEG, PNG and WebP files
  • Claim generator, recorded actions, ingredients and reported validation status
  • Local parsing with the official C2PA WebAssembly engine
  • No external signer trust list and no claim that the depicted scene is authentic or human-made

Questions, answered

What this tool does and does not do.

Does this verify the signature?

The official engine parses the manifest and reports its validation results. MetaPurify does not add a signer trust list, so those results are not a trusted-identity or real-world authenticity judgment.

What exactly does it show?

When available, it shows the active manifest, claim generator, source type, signature details, recorded actions, ingredients and validation status. If the engine cannot run, it clearly falls back to container-presence detection.

Does a manifest mean the image is AI-generated?

No. Content Credentials record provenance, and cameras, editors and AI tools can all write one. The presence of a manifest says the file carries a provenance claim, nothing more.

No manifest was found. Is the image untouched?

No conclusion follows. Credentials are stripped whenever a file is re-encoded, and most images never carried one, so an absent manifest is simply an absence of evidence.
