Convert JPEG to PNG
Convert JPEG images to lossless PNG locally — no quality dial, no metadata carried across.

How it works
Useful privacy, without privacy theater.
This page preconfigures the converter for JPEG to PNG. Your browser decodes the JPEG and the PNG encoder stores every decoded pixel exactly; the output is verified before download.
- InspectRead supported metadata locally.
- Process and verifyEncode locally, decode the result again, and report measured numbers.
What it does
- JPEG input, including progressive files, decoded by your browser
- Lossless PNG output — there is no quality setting to get wrong
- Expect a larger file: PNG stores the decoded pixels exactly, including JPEG's own artifacts
- Useful before further editing, or where a form or store demands PNG
- Freshly encoded output carries no EXIF, GPS or XMP
Questions, answered
What this tool does and does not do.
Will PNG make my JPEG look better?
No. PNG is lossless going forward, but the pixels it stores are the JPEG's decoded pixels, softness included. Converting cannot restore detail the JPEG already lost.
Why is the PNG larger than my JPEG?
JPEG compresses photographs far more efficiently than a lossless format can. Expect the PNG to be several times larger; the exact number is shown before you download.
When is JPEG to PNG the right move?
When something downstream requires PNG — some editors, sticker packs, asset pipelines and upload forms — or before repeated edits, where saving repeatedly as JPEG would compound losses.
Does the PNG inherit my JPEG's metadata?
No. The PNG is written from decoded pixels only, so EXIF, GPS and comments are left behind.
