Small files, honest numbers
Image Compressor
Compress by quality, or search for the highest quality that fits an exact size target.

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF · Up to 25 MB
How it works
Useful privacy, without privacy theater.
Target sizes are found with a bounded binary search over the encoder, not by stepping quality down blindly. Every reported number is measured from the actual output.
- InspectRead supported metadata locally.
- Process and verifyEncode locally, decode the result again, and report measured numbers.
What it does
- Quality mode with a direct control for JPEG and WebP
- Target mode: under 100 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or a custom limit
- Optional dimension fallback when the quality floor cannot reach the target
- Every result shows original size, output size and the exact quality used
- Fresh output carries no metadata
Questions, answered
What this tool does and does not do.
How does target-size compression work?
The tool encodes, measures the result, and narrows the quality range with a binary search until it finds the highest quality under your limit. It cannot loop forever, and if the floor is reached it says so instead of shipping a broken file.
Why can't PNG hit a target size?
PNG is lossless, so it has no quality dial and its size cannot be tuned smoothly. Target mode is offered for JPEG and WebP, whose quality directly controls size.
What does '83% smaller' actually mean?
It is the measured byte size of the verified output compared to your original file. No estimated or rounded-up numbers are shown.
Will compression change my image dimensions?
Not unless you allow it. If the target cannot be reached at the quality floor and dimension fallback is enabled, the image is scaled down in disclosed steps; the result always states the final dimensions.
