How it works
Useful privacy, without privacy theater.
The viewer translates technical tags into understandable groups. It never sends the file or extracted values to a server.
- InspectRead supported metadata locally.
- Report clearlyShow what was actually found—nothing inferred.
What it checks
- Coordinates stored in EXIF GPS records or XMP
- Camera, lens, serial numbers, capture settings and dates
- Software, creator, copyright, captions and keywords
- Prompts and workflows stored in PNG text or EXIF comments
Questions, answered
What this tool does and does not do.
Does opening a photo here change the file?
No. The viewer is read-only. It parses the file in memory and writes nothing back; your original is untouched.
Why does my photo show no metadata at all?
Most social platforms strip metadata when they re-encode an upload, screenshots carry almost nothing, and a phone with location services off records no coordinates. An image with no metadata is not evidence that the original had none.
Can it read HEIC photos from an iPhone?
No. The viewer reads JPEG, PNG and WebP. An iPhone photo shared or exported as JPEG can be inspected; the original HEIC cannot.
