How it works

Useful privacy, without privacy theater.

Large reductions happen in repeated halves, which avoids the jagged edges a single big step produces. Output dimensions are verified before download.

Questions, answered

What this tool does and does not do.

Why do small photos look better resized here?

Downscaling happens in steps of one half at a time with high-quality smoothing. A single large reduction averages few pixels and aliases; stepped reduction keeps detail.

What is the difference between fit, fill and crop?

Fit scales the whole image inside the box. Fill scales until the box is covered and trims the overflow. Crop cuts a centered region at the exact size you asked for.

Does resizing keep metadata?

No. Resizing re-encodes the image, so metadata is not carried over. The original file on your disk is untouched.

How large can my image be?

Up to 25 MB and 50 megapixels per file, the same limits as the rest of the toolkit.
