How it works
Useful privacy, without privacy theater.
Conversion re-encodes pixels with your browser's own codecs, so the output is fresh: no metadata carries over. The result is decoded again before download to verify format and dimensions.
- InspectRead supported metadata locally.
- Process and verifyEncode locally, decode the result again, and report measured numbers.
What it does
- Input: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF, ICO and SVG
- Output: JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF with a quality control
- Transparency is flattened over a background you choose when the target has no alpha
- Animated files convert their first frame, and the tool says so before processing
- Freshly encoded output carries no metadata, so private data cannot leak through
Questions, answered
What this tool does and does not do.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Decoding and encoding happen in your browser using its built-in image codecs.
What happens to metadata when I convert?
It is gone. Re-encoding builds a new file from pixels only, so EXIF, GPS, XMP and comments cannot survive. Converting here is also a metadata cleaning step.
Why does my PNG look different as JPEG?
JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are flattened over a background color you choose, and JPEG's lossy compression softens fine detail. Choose WebP or PNG to keep transparency.
Can it convert HEIC from my iPhone?
Yes. HEIC files are decoded locally by a bundled software decoder, so iPhone photos can be converted directly without needing Safari or exporting as JPEG first.
