Processed privately in your browserYou can also paste an image from your clipboard.

Edits rewrite the file's EXIF block only. The picture is never re-encoded, and every finished file is re-parsed to verify that its image payload is unchanged.

How it works

Useful privacy, without privacy theater.

Editing rebuilds the metadata block around the untouched image payload. Every edit is verified by re-reading the file and comparing the image payload hash.

  1. InspectRead supported metadata locally.
  2. Edit and verifyRewrite the metadata block, then re-read the file to confirm every field.

What it edits

  • Edit or add artist, copyright, description and capture and modification dates
  • Set GPS coordinates or clear all GPS at once
  • Privacy presets: remove location, remove device details, safe for social sharing
  • JPEG, PNG and WebP, edited without pixel re-encoding
  • Batch mode: apply the same edits to every selected file and download as ZIP

Questions, answered

What this tool does and does not do.

Does editing re-encode my photo?

No. The metadata container is rebuilt around the untouched image payload, and the tool hashes that payload before and after to show it did not change.

Which fields can I edit?

Copyright, artist, description, the capture and modification dates, and GPS coordinates, in JPEG, PNG and WebP. Camera internals such as exposure live in the same block; removing those is what the presets and the metadata cleaner are for.

What do the presets do?

Remove location clears GPS records. Remove device identity clears serial numbers and owner names. Social sharing clears private fields while keeping rendering data. Photographer keeps camera settings and copyright while clearing location and device identity.

Will my camera's maker notes survive?

Their bytes are carried over unchanged, so self-contained maker notes keep working. A few old cameras address their notes relative to the old block position and may misread their private fields afterwards; standard fields remain correct.
